Large-scale Moscow's Strikes Cut Electricity Throughout Ukraine's Capital

Power facilities under attack in Ukraine
The country's energy systems have come under increased attacks in recent weeks

Throughout the evening, Moscow's aerial assaults have resulted in blackouts in large parts of Ukraine's capital, Kyiv.

Several individuals were hurt while local people in eastern neighborhoods were plunged into darkness and faced disruption to water supplies, per reports from municipal leaders.

At the same time, a minor was killed in a separate aerial attack in the Zaporizhzhia area in the southern area, according to regional authorities.

Moscow has escalated assaults on energy facilities over the past few days, while Ukrainian leadership has called for "concrete actions" from international partners to exert influence on Moscow.

"What's needed is not superficial actions but decisive action - from the America, European nations and the major economies - in supplying protection systems and applying sanctions," was stated in a public message.

Authorities reported that hundreds of unmanned aircraft and several dozen missiles targeted energy facilities, characterizing such attacks as "cynical and calculated" and against "critical infrastructure" as temperatures become colder.

Energy officials said Russia was "conducting extensive attacks" and technical staff were working to repair systems.

A wave of strikes damaged energy infrastructure and civilian homes in the capital.

Five out of the nine people wounded in the strikes on the city have been transported for medical care, according to local officials.

Area administrators said the city came under heavy assaults during nighttime hours. A seven-year-old child died and several individuals were wounded.

The attacks follow periods of air raids in the region, parts of which are currently controlled by invading troops.

The whole nation is in a state of readiness for hypersonic Kinzhal missile strikes, which are harder to identify.

National leaders told reporters that Moscow was purposely seeking to destroy the electrical infrastructure, with attacks already disrupting fuel infrastructure.

He said utility staff and government agencies were bracing for additional strikes.
